Smoothing Variables Overview
The Smoothing Variable feature ensures consistent trends by minimizing notable fluctuations in the data. For example, a smoothed price variable can be generated from average price data.
To create a smoothed variable, users should follow these steps:
- Select the Variable: Choose the variable that requires smoothing.
- Name the Variable: Provide a unique name for the new smoothed variable.
- Input Parameters: Enter the required parameters, including:
- Backward observations
- Forward observations
- Variable change limit
- Number of weeks
Users can preview the smoothed variable by clicking the Preview button before finalizing the changes.
